Endeavor Edward Hospital (Naperville)
Naperville, IL 60540

Each room has a birthing (exercise) ball and a comfortable chair for your use during labor if you desire.
Smart pumps deliver, monitor and balance your medications for safe administration while you’re in the hospital. Also, ID badges track when your doctors and nurses enter and leave your room to help ensure you receive the assistance and attention you need.
The hospital’s labor and delivery nurses are trained to assist you with various techniques to manage pain without medication, such as use of birthing balls, warm showers, massage, position changes and relaxation. If you desire pain medication, including analgesics or epidurals, anesthesiologists are available 24 hours a day.
Family & friends: Edward Hospital has a liberal visitation policy, leaving it up to you who visits you in the hospital. Any adults you invite will be there to support you during labor. Determining who is present during delivery is a decision you can make with your physician or midwife. However, if complications arise, visitors may be asked to leave.
Partner rooming-in: Each room is equipped with a couch that converts into a bed for your partner’s comfort.
Siblings at birth: If you would like your older children to visit you during labor, they must be accompanied by a responsible adult other than your support person. If you want them to attend the birth, you must have written permission from your provider and the children must take the “Sibling at Birth” class prior to labor.
Partner rooming-in: Your room has a couch that converts into a bed so your partner can sleep in your room.
Edwards Hospital is committed to helping you breastfeed successfully, if you desire. Mother-baby nurses are specially trained to assist you and are available 24/7 as you start breastfeeding. Lactation consultants can also come to your room to assist with any breastfeeding difficulties, answer your questions, and offer proper techniques. If there is a medical need to pump breast milk for your baby, a hospital grade pump is available for use in the hospital. Your nurse will instruct you in the correct use of the pump.

The care team at Edward Hospital includes board-certified obstetrician-gynecologists and neonatologists and specially trained nurses (including advanced practice nurses, labor and delivery nurses and neonatal nurses). It’s as close as you get to the comforts of home, combined with expert medical care and technology, for a first-class experience. Your luxurious, modern suite comes with a private bathroom, a flat screen TV, and a couch that converts into a bed for your partner’s comfort.”
Comfort measures: “During labor, we’ll help you achieve the comfort level you desire. Some women give birth with mild pain or discomfort, controlled by comfort measures, relaxation and breathing techniques. Others prefer medication to control pain. Our labor and delivery nurses are trained to assist you with various techniques, such as use of birthing balls, warm showers, massage, position changes and relaxation. If you desire pain medication, such as analgesics or epidurals, our anesthesiologists are available 24 hours a day to meet your needs for pain relief. ”
The Golden Hour: “After delivery, you and your baby will stay in your private birthing suite for approximately two hours to recover. This is a great time for you and your partner to get to know your newborn. It’s also an important time for mom and baby bonding. Skin-to-skin contact with your baby has scientifically proven benefits: baby’s temperature, heart rate and blood sugar stabilize faster. And both mom and baby’s stress hormones are reduced by skin-to-skin contact. This is a good time for you to start breastfeeding, if desired. For these reasons, we generally discourage visitors during the first hour after birth.”
Post-partum massage: “Every new mom at Edward Hospital is offered a complimentary neck and shoulder massage from our certified massage therapist, who will come to your room the day after your delivery.”
Commemorating your baby’s arrival: “During your stay, you have access to many different resources to celebrate your baby’s arrival:
- Baby portraits: We work with experienced photographers to capture your baby’s first photograph with a natural, artistic style. Your professional mini photo shoot can take place right in the comfort of your private room and can also include other family members.
- Cradle Club: Through the Edward Hospital Foundation’s Cradle Club, you can commemorate your baby’s arrival with a beautiful keepsake footprint medallion that includes your baby’s name and birthdate.”
“We know you want the best for you and your baby. We’re committed to providing you with a safe, optimal birthing experience geared toward your individual needs and preferences. Because that’s what every new mom deserves.”
